Castigation of the Innocent | The Evident

The morning arrived, and as people woke with a pop, Rashida opened her eyes. She was not in her own house; she was in a room occupied by soldiers. They were changing their uniforms, preparing to commit atrocities against the innocent.

Fear surged through her, and Rashida ran toward the outside. But a soldier returning from the mountain patrol caught her.

“Why are you killing us?” she pleaded, her voice trembling.

The question echoed in the soldier's mind, a disturbing counterpoint to his duty. He didn’t answer Rashida’s question, but instead, he released her.

Yet, many more innocent people remained trapped in the cell. Rashida decided in that moment that she must become a protector of the country. She rushed to the cell and, standing before the soldiers, prepared to make a final stand. She spoke about their injustice.

Unfortunately, they opened fire. Rashida was shot and fell down, slipping into a deep unconsciousness.

News of her bravery quickly spread. Across the region, people, even the elderly, learned of her sacrifice. They spoke in respectful tones, honoring the courage of Rashida.
